Message "it is surprising that nissan didn't take this (single map) route from the factory. Instead they chose to run a primary map that is safe when the engine is running properly and adding a secondary map for conditions when aspects of the engine were malfunctioning."

nissan uses two maps from the factory, both a safe primary and an even safer secondary. JWT doesn't - there's one map, which (as we can all agree upon) is rich for all conditions. If JWT's route is so great, why didn't nissan go that way from the factory?

You two claim that a safe (rich) primary is all you need (ala JWT).

I think a properly tuned primary with a richer, less aggressive secondary (which is used in many conditions, but especially when there is low detonation or with a cold engine) is a good thing.
